Plano Civic Chorus, under the artistic direction of Ralph Stannard, is pleased to announce the establishment of a permanent scholarship in memory of Merritt Felmly. Merritt was an inspiring member of the chorus. He was a lifelong singer whose life exemplified the love of choral music and service to others. Merritt used his talent of singing to enrich and bless all who knew him. Merritt was well loved and loved well. When Merritt was diagnosed with an incurable form of cancer he requested that upon his death donations in his honor be made to Plano Civic Chorus. These funds were used to establish a scholarship fund set up in perpetuity and to be named: THE MERRITT FELMLY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP.
Of the two $500 scholarships given each year one will be awarded to a high school senior and the other will be awarded to a college level junior, senior, or graduate student.
