Collaborative Pianist
Terry Metzger, Plano Civic Chorus' Collaborative Pianist, has performed professionally as conductor, solo pianist, accompanist, organist, trumpeter, and vocalist. He has been a church musician for well over three decades, including 21 years as Instrumental Music Director at St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Plano. At St. Andrew Mr. Metzger led the concert series, performing as accompanist for guest artists and numerous solo concerts as pianist and organist. Mr. Metzger earned a Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance from Ithaca College where he studied trumpet with Frank Campos and piano with Dr. Phiroze Mehta. At Southern Methodist University he received a Master of Music in Conducting while studying with orchestra director Dr. David Milnes, wind ensemble director Dr. Jack Delaney, and choral director Constantina Tsolainou. He studied voice with Madeline Sanders of Dallas. When not performing or rehearsing, Mr. Metzger maintains a large roster of piano students in his home studio. A member of the Music Teachers National Association, he was named 2017-18 Plano Music Teacher of the Year by the Plano Music Teachers Association for service to the organization and his students. |
