Ralph Frederick Stannard has been artistic
director of the Plano Civic Chorus since 1999. He has also been
director of music at The First Presbyterian Church of Richardson
since 1998. Mr. Stannard has held similar positions at Bethel Temple
in Oak Cliff, St. Stephens Presbyterian in Irving, and Munger
Place United Methodist Church in Dallas. He also served as baritone
soloist at Highland Park Presbyterian in Dallas. Mr. Stannard has
sung with the Dallas Opera Chorus, the Denton Bach Society, and
the Deep Ellum Opera Theatre.
For thirteen years Mr. Stannard has served
as conductor of special performances for the Dallas Symphony Chorus
conducting the chorus for weddings, corporate parties, and official
functions benefiting Dallas Symphony Association. In addition to
his duties at First Presbyterian Church, Mr. Stannard is baritone
soloist and assistant conductor at Temple Emanu-El in Dallas. In
the summer of 2000, Mr. Stannard conducted the Temple choir on a
successful European tour of Amsterdam, Paris, and London. Mr. Stannard
received his BM degree from the University of Austin in music theory
and composition and a MME from the University of North Texas in
instrumental education. Mr. Stannard has studied instrumental conducting
with Robert Winslow and Kate Tamarkin, and choral conducting with
Henry Gibbons, Frank McKinley, and David R. Davidson.
